Pap Smear came back as "low grade abnormal cells" … can this be related to an overactive bladder too?

Posted by admin on Mar 7, 2010

okay, so I’ve read up a lot on the low grade abnormal cells and stuff. I am having a colposcopy in a few weeks because of it… but of coarse until then I have been worrying and thinking the worst. So when I originaly went in for the pap smear (mind you I haven’t had one in 6 years due to insurance reasons… oh and I’m 23) I thought I would ask about my overactive bladder too. I have been having this problem for about 5 years or so. It has gotten worse and worse and I am at my breaking point. In an average 8hr sleeping period I will pee about 4 times.. and on a bad night I will pee every single hour. AND I don’t even drink any liquids for 2 hours before I go to bed. and I dont drink soda or coffee AT ALL. so this is just from water and juice.

Anyways… My bladder tests are not until next week and then I dont get those results for another week or so. I’m wondering if my test results from my pap smear being "abnormal cells" can have any connection with my overactive bladder? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.. I have read and read about this stuff and I’m driving myself nuts… so please don’t refer me to "google it"… been there, done that!

THANKS!!!!! :)

I had a pap smear with abnormal cells once. I had the colposcopy, and ended up having high grade cervical dyspasia. I had to have a LEEP procedure to have the abnormal cells removed.

The issue you are having involves abnormal cells on your cervix, so it should not have any thing to do with your bladder.

When you go for the colposcopy, the Doc will let you know what they find. Depending on that, you may need to remove the abnormal cells, which is where the LEEP comes in. Its a peice of cake, so dont worry!

That was about 3 years ago, and my pap’s have been normal ever since!

But to answer your question, no, your overactive bladder has nothing to do with your cervix.

I hope thats what you were looking for!

BTW, good luck with everything!

The two are unrelated. Your cervix is part of the reproductive system, your bladder, the urinary system. They are near each other but very different.
